Don't know how to describe this couple....Coey is a quiet bride and doesn't speak much and Wilson is not camera shy but it seems he doesn't like to smile in front of the camera eventhough he's happy...so in a way, this was a first for me!

The day was filled with different emotions, and I had tears in my eyes when I listened to the bride's speech at night and I almost forgot I was the photographer and take photos.

The day's schedule was a bit packed so there wasn't much time to take outdoor portraits but from your facial expressions during the same day slideshow, I know you liked my photos!

Gloria and Jacky

Gloria and Jacky are very energetic and out-going, not to mention pretty and handsome...eventhough the schedule was very tight that day, their smiles and truthfulness took away any hint of tiredness!

Gloria was very caring, she even calls us during her make up session to make sure we were enjoying our dinner, so I think Jacky is a very lucky man!

I really like the photo above, you can see how pretty Gloria's smile is, especially with happy tears running down her face.

Ceremony and banquet took place in a yacht club somewhere in HK and I was very fortunate that Gloria and Jacky spared 15 minutes of their precious time from mingling with their close friends to allow me to take a couple of portraits, just before sunset!

GREAT COUPLE (Melbournian to be precise), GREAT WEDDING and GREAT EXPERIENCE! for me, it was my first time taking photo in a Jewish Wedding, first time taking photo in a Synagogue and working as a Standard Photographer for Lawrence!

Kate and Rus were very down to earth, very nice and very Aussie! The Wedding was relaxed and atmosphere was great, speeches by the Kate, Rus and their parents were touching and VERY entertaining! It was a very unique and very memorable experience for me!

Jessey and Raymond is the best kisser I've ever known! I mean...I'm sure many of the couples I've met are very good kissers, but they will never show their skills in the public!! It was a hot, humid and rainy day...but it was their affections for each other made the day seems very enjoyable!

Pity didn't have time to take any portraits....but so happy seeing Jessey and Raymond sealed their marriage!

Joseph is one of my buddy at work, eventhough we don't work in the same department, we share common interests....one very important one is "inching" one particular colleague who left our employer recently...heehee....

Eventhough I only attended their wedding in the evening, it was a very happy moment seeing him "grow up"....pity we didn't have time to take some portraits though...

Desmond is actually the brother of my very good colleague and it is also for this same reason, I was not the main snapshot photographer for the day (Kim from The Stage was the main snapshot!)

The day started off with not so good weather but it became better as the day goes on...

Eventhough we didn't have too much time shooting portraits, we were still able to get some shot in my colleague's place!

In the evening, there were many touching moments and from what I can see, many guests have tears in their eyes....

Once again, today was the first time meeting Aiko and Derek and their wedding is one of the most memorable one for me. Honestly, during the day, the wedding was fairly typical, it was what Derek did during the night that made it very special!

I'm not sure whether I can disclose it so I better keep it to myself...but what I can say that it brought tears to my eyes...

Aiko and Derek loves taking photos and we have so much fun and I've learnt a lot from them today....once again, I've enjoyed your wedding as much as both of you do and hopefully can see you in your friend's wedding in the future!

Don't know why, I've never met the groom until the wedding day for most of my recent weddings and today is the same. Prior to meeting Ah Kiu, the photos he used in his "march-in" slideshow gave me an impression that he's very "mean", but after spending a whole day with him, I was totally wrong, he was very nice and funny.

I think this is his real personality as if he doesn't treat his "brothers" well, they won't stand up for him during the door opening games.

If you scroll further down...the little creatures that were prepared by the "sisters" all ended up in the brothers' stomaches!

Eventhough the schedule was a bit tight, it ended up as a very smooth day! Thank you very much for inviting us as your wedding photographer, we really enjoyed the day! Take care!!!

Today was the first time I've met James! To my surprised, he's like me..doesn't know chinese very well and it took a bit of help from his "brothers" in order to finish the open door games.

The day was a bit windy and a bit chilly but Agnes and James just keep on smiling, what a great couple to work with!

The more we shoot, the more relax they are and as you can see from the above photo, is hard to believe that Agnes is not a "professional model".

There were many "firsts" from this wedding!

This was my first "Sea, Land and Air" wedding.
This was my first wedding where there were only five people.
This was the first wedding where it was held in a secluded beach and many more...

As you can see from the photos, this couple was handsome and beautiful, they were not camera shy and on many occasions, they will pose by themselves....

One of the hardest thing for me to do was to get them stop kissing each other!

This wedding surely tops my "most memorable" wedding of the year and it was also an honor to work with Pink Wedding!

The day had a flying start, by the time we've finished the tea ceremony, we were an hour early...but as with most things in life...an unforeseen traffic delay shorten our outdoor portrait session from 60 to 15 mins!

But as with most of the couples i've worked this, Teresa and Brandon took it easy and didn't spoil even a bit of their big day!

At the end, the day finished smoothly and from the smiles on their face, I'm 100% certain that they've enjoyed their big day very much!

Kerry and Jerry...you can tell they are a perfect match just from their names! In real life they are very adorable and cute...yes...cute! Not only they smiles perfectly, they enjoyed their wedding and time together very much...

Pui Yee and Fai

WHAT A FUN FILLED WEDDING!!!

Fai was cheeky, playful and always happy, one of the best groom I've ever encountered! Pui Yee was also very nice..but sometime a bit shy but they both made my day!

In the evening I finally find out this couple was together for over half of their lifetime, as one of the guest mentioned, this is very very rare and it was a god sent!

At first, we thought the day will be very relax, however, we over ran and at the end we were a bit rush...but this didn't deter Pui Yee and Fai's mood for taking photos!

It was a great day, great couple and great shooting...sincerely hope happiness will be with both of you for the rest of your life!

Ernest is one of the most well prepared groom I've ever met, eventhough his wedding is on 11 of Oct 2010, he actually sent me his rundown at the end of August! But it is also because of this, I was a bit worried that things didn't go as planned on the day....

The day was filled with rain...but also filled with laughters....eventhough things didn't go as planned, Yumi and Ernest still enjoyed the day very much!

With (a bit) of luck on our side, the rain stopped and eventhough it was 7pm at night, we've managed to snap a couple of shoots just outside the venue....hope the couple will like it!

Oh...one more thing...the couple worked for a very well known fashion chain...and as you can see...the sisters are all very "model" like!

Is a long while since I last posted photos on my blog...basically, it was because June to Sep is not wedding seasons and for a "big" guy like me...I also find it very hard to shoot in hot weather!

But this time is different, since I've known Adam for 15 years and he actually trust me to take his wedding photos!

The day was very relaxed in terms of the schedule...basically no portrait shoot, and we have nothing much between 2 - 6pm....it might sound good...but I was a bit worried that I might not have enough photos to return back to them and in a way let them down...

Eventhough it was very hot on the day...I was still able to beg for a short period of outdoor shooting before their registration ceremony..eventhough it didn't turn out as expected...I still hope they will like my photos la..

Is been a long while for me in taking wedding photos for an Aussie and this time both the bride and groom is an Aussie!!! The day's schedule was tight but not hectic...but because of this, we did not have time to take any portraits....in a way...it was a bit of a shame....however, I guess most Aussies would like to enjoy their wedding rather than rushing through it...for me...it was very very enjoyable!

Can you see how happy the new "mother in law" was...I bet this was the best mother's day present for a long while.

The registration ceremony was held in a church and to be quite honest, this priest was the best I've seen, not only he's funny...he really can make a tense atmosphere into one that fills with laughter!

During the ceremony, Brandon sang a song for his bride as a surprise, as you can see Chloe's facial reaction...you know how good Brandon was!

Brandon and Chloe, sorry for not able to get in touch with you last time when I was in Sydney...let's catch up when I'm next in town la!

Ada and Kenneth

I was a bit scared the night before this wedding for two reasons....firstly, I haven't meet the bride before, secondly, I need to speak mandarin.....arghhhhhhh!!! Luck was on my side though since Ada understands cantonese and we got off to a smooth start.

As Ada was from Beijing, she was not very familiar with the "Hong Kong" wedding style but she was a very quick learner and can adapt to the Hong Kong style very quickly!

The door opening games was exciting (as you can see from the props the sisters used above) and because of this, I better not show the photos here....

The day went great, eventhough the weather forecast said there will be rain...we didn't have a drop on the day....maybe because Ada brought the sun with her from Beijing!

A very relaxing day today since it was a half day job and what makes it better was Kristine and George was super friendly and nice but a bit tense though! The day started off with a casual stroll to pick up the bride with no games...eventhough this was not the typical "procedures" all of us enjoyed it very much.

See how happy was the new "father-in-law"!

Ceremony was at Bethanie Church...a very lovely place but the schedule was a bit tight so was not able to take any portraits after the ceremony....but luckily, the guards allowed us to take some outside....

It was a very enjoyable day...

I've known Venchilli (or better known as Chilli) and Andrew (Ah Drew) for almost 15 years, and for the first 14 years, I never ever dreamt about these two dated each other let alone becoming a couple...but sometimes, the unimaginable becomes reality!

Wow!! What a day!! The schedule was tight and I didn't arrived as early as I would have liked as I've only arrived on time due to an unforeseen accident on the way....It was very busy during the morning session for various reasons, but Rachel and Alan (not me...the groom's name is also Alan) was helping and assisting along the way...and the most important thing was that my "master" was sharing his knowledge and ideas with me for the majority of the day right beside me!!!

With the influence of my "master", I was trying new things that I should have tried much earlier, eventhough some of them didn't worked out as good as planned, I've learnt a great deal today and I'm very happy that Rachel and Alan loved "our" works!

Back to Rachel and Alan, they are both very very lovely and amazingly...not camera shy at all, so it was very fun and comfortable working with them, especially during the portrait session in TST, on top of that, the "brothers" and "sisters" were so playful and we took many shots that I think I can't post them up....hahahaha!

Ceremony was held in Central so we took a very short time out shooting near the central wharf with their lovely car...

Then we went to TST where the lights at that time was perfect!

I can't express how happy and how lucky I was to work with Rachel, Alan and my "master", eventhough it was a bit tired then usual...it was very much worth it!!

Peggy and Jeffrey

Today is not only Peggy and Jeffrey's big day, it is also Jeffrey parent's wedding anniversary so it basically means father and son will celebrate their wedding anniversary every year! So nice!

My first impression when I met Jeffrey this morning is that he's energetic and fit and the longer I get to know him, his gentleness covered his fitness... and of course, he's only gentle to Peggy and her family.

Eventhough the schedule wasn't that hectic, as the day progress we overran a little and this shortens our time in shooting outdoor portraits but from what I feel, Peggy and Jeffrey did not mind at all...since their main focus was to enjoy the day and not to take photos....so I hope I've done enough to exceed both of your expectations.

Once again, thank you very much for a very nice and enjoyable day...and can't wait to say happy anniversary to you and your parents next year! Take care!!

Sandy and Kelvin

Sandy and Kelvin....what can I say? A wonderful couple and a very well planned wedding, down to the greatest details! Kelvin is a very attentive guy, hard to imagine such type of guy exists today....not only he spent over a year on planning his wedding, he even arranged their grown up slideshow, logo design, which songs to use during different parts of their wedding as well as a special slideshow dedicated to both of their parents!

During the day I've found out the traditional chinese wedding dress worn by Sandy was actually worn by Sandy's mum during her wedding over 20 years ago and I think it is a very special feeling when Sandy's mum saw her daugther wearing her own wedding dress, I hope my daughter will do the same when she grows up!

Eventhough the schedule was not that tight, the weather was not on our side, however, we were blessed that after the ceremony, the sky was cleared for a short while so we can take some outdoor portraits!

Sandy and Kelvin, eventhough my slideshow might not be as good as yours, I still hope both of you have enjoyed it, wishes both of you all the best for the years to come!

Martina and Ray

Today was the first time I've met Martina and Ray as they were based in the US and they've only communicated with The Stage via emails. For me, the feeling is a bit strange as usually, I will meet a majority of my clients at least once or twice face to face or over the phone before the wedding day and I'm a bit worried that I don't have a grasp of what Martina and Ray are like before their wedding day!

As with most people from the States, it turned out Martina and Ray are both very friendly and very nice and of course....with very bright smiles!

Even their friends are great...as you can see one of Ray's brother performing the "teapot dance" routine!

Honestly, I have to say a big thank you to Martina and Ray, because if they didn't decide to take their ceremony at ocean park, it probably will take me another couple of years before I have a chance to go...that's because I probably can't go till my daughter is old enough...and not to mention I've probably lost 3 pounds by sweating under the midday sun for two hours kekeke...

And if it wasn't for this midday sun, I never would have guessed how easy going Martine and Ray were....as they did not complain a single word during the shoot!

It was very nice meeting Martina and Ray and sincerely wishes both of you a very happy married life back in the States!

Cookie and Alex

Cookie and Alex are good friends of mine and as with taking photos for friends...I'm always a bit worried, but luckily this time, it is a pre-wedding so if anything goes wrong, we can try it again later....

We started the day in the Northern Territory...as you can see...the sky was picture perfect!!!

After spending couple of hours in NT, we moved to Yau Ma Tei....

And yes...you've guessed it...then we went to Shek O hahah..so basically...we went from North to South in a single day!!! Eventhough the car ride was a bit longer than expected it was great fun since we joked and talked just like good friends does and I think the shoot went very very well!

The two photos above are my favorites for the day....but after taking these photos...i had a very very bad headache since it was sooooooooooooooooo windy!

The only thing that didn't went to plan was by the time we reach the beach, the sun was pretty much fully set (since we've had so much fun in the rock formations) but to my surprised, the photos were not that bad.

Don't know why...i couldn't stop myself from laughing everytime i see Alex's pose in the photo above hahaha...oh....not to mention Kaikai, our friend and our driver for the day!

Sandy and Sun...what can I say? Reason being, on our way back home, Sandy already suggested and guessed what I was going to say...so in a way...Sandy and Sun know what I'm going to say! Rather saying the typical things again and again I probably will keep it short!

OK, in short, we've spent almost 6 hours in CU alone and honestly, if it wasn't for Sandy and Sun, I will never ever visit so many different places in CU and I was very very amazed how big the CU campus is...and having studied in Australia, you can imagine how big CU is in order to amaze me!

As Sandy and Sun both studied in CU, the theme of this pre-wedding was based around CU and they would like to take photos around the places where they've been during their time in UNI...and the uni canteen was one of them.

Sandy and Sun, hope both of you enjoyed the day like we do and all the best to your upcoming wedding la!!!

This is a very special wedding since if I stuffs this up, I probably will sleep "standing upright" for the rest of my life as this is the wedding of my wife's very very good friend....aii....an additional problem is that I will have no excuses as they've allocated plenty of time to take photos....aii once again...

As with most of my life, I was very lucky again, Eddie and Amy is one of the easiest couple I've worked with since they are very playful and they never tried to hide their love for each other at all!

After all the "administrative" tasks were completed, we have three hours to spend on photo shoot and the places they've chosen are places that I've never heard of or haven't shoot at before....aiii once more....

As the day goes by, it got hotter and we've decided to go back to my place to take a rest, since I've always wanted to take photos around my place, I was able to persuade them to give it a try and I think the photos turned out alright.

Amy and Eddie, hope you like my photos if not...I will sleep upright ga la hahaha....congratulations on your wedding and wishes you happiness ever after!!

Joy and Jackal

This was the first official job after my "paternity" leave and to be quite honest, I was a bit worried at first but I was very fortunate to have Joy and Jackal as my "first" couple!

Joy is a very pretty and joyful bride (maybe that's how she got her name from), she loves to smile, loves her family and loves Jackal! Eventhough the day was not that hectic, my feet were still very sore the next morning, but it was all worth it as I have the chance to work with this terrific couple!

Since no outdoor shoot was scheduled during the day, we took some timeout in the afternoon and took some portraits in Jackal's clubhouse and the hotel lobby (very lucky to get a moment where no one is using the stairs!)

It was a great day and I think I was very fortunate to have Joy and Jackal as my "first" couple and it will be pretty hectic from now on!

Agnes and Ivan

Is being a while since I've attended a wedding as a guest rather than a photographer, and this time it is my "buddy's" wedding. I've met Ivan couple of years ago and I remembered the first time I've met him, I showed him our company's web-based system...and 5 years later we worked in the same team and he's my working "buddy", at that time, he taught me a lot and I was a bit disappointed when he decided to leave us.

Anyhow, we still keep in touch (thanks to skype and facebook) and hopefully will work with him again in the foreseeable future!

Ivan is signing his life away...his HAPPY LIFE!!

This is not the bestman...he's Ivan's father!!!

Of course, how can I not post the photo of my colleagues!

A beautiful bride, a humorous groom and a bunch of playful sisters are the best ingredients for a simple yet enjoyable wedding. As the couple will have their big banquet later in the year, today it was just the registration with close friends and relatives, the registration ceremony was short and sweet (honestly, this is all you need...). Jay and Gordon was very relaxed and they were able to enjoy every moments of it, also because of Gordon's humorous nature, the registration was filled with laughter.

Jay is a very beautiful bride, especially her eyes...

Eventhough the day was filled with rains and thunderstorms, we were very lucky to have around 30mins of outdoor portrait, and thanks to Tracy (the hotel event manager) we were able to take some quick shots in the pool area.

Remember I've mentioned a bunch of playful sisters? Here they are enjoying the "wet" grass heehee....sorry for the ones that I've made you sitting on the grass la...

For myself, I believe photos have a much bigger impact if they are viewed within a professionally designed album than stand alone since it gives the viewer a greater sense of coverage in what have happened during a wedding or a pre-wedding shoot. All the albums created by The Stage are designed by a team of professional designers working for The Stage full time.

Keeping the designing phase within The Stage, it allow the photographers and designers to have much more interactions in communicating their ideas in order to produce the best output as the photographers can give the designers a first person view of what they want to express when taking a particular photo.

I'm very happy that Valerie and Marco gave me their recommendations to post some of their pre-wedding album pages up on my blog (please contact The Stage if you want to view the whole album), it was taken sometime last year in Sydney and I sincerely hope they like the designed album!

Nicole and Jerry (featuring May and Ivan!)

Today was hot, humid, stuffy and extremely bright and we stuck out in the midday sun for over three hours! Eventhough we only stayed in TST's "Red House" it was not a very comfortable experience especially for Nicole and Jerry!

Jerry is Ivan's cousin (friend of mine) and Ivan and his wife (May) also tagged along to help out during the day, if it wasn't for their help, I'm sure the three of us will be melted already.

Nicole and Jerry was a fun pair to work with (especially after they've eaten lunch) so the hot weather and bright sunlight didn't affect us from enjoying the day.

We've stayed in the shadows (but believe me..not much cooler) for most of the three hours since whenever we are out in the sun, Jerry will sweat like crazy...if you look closely...you can see Jerry's sweat (deliberately didn't remove it from the photos heehee...)

Eventhough it was hot, the couple still perform exceptionally well, even under the sun!

As you can see from their bright smiles, they certainly did enjoy the day!

As the sun was high up during midday...I took this chance to try out infrared photography...eventhough the photo didn't turned out as good as I expected it to be...but I think is worth trying again next time....

As May and Ivan was also here...we took a couple of photos while Nicole and Jerry was having lunch (yep...in their wedding outfit right in the middle of TST)

Clarice is two months old today la!

Today was a dreadful day...heavy rains, thunderstorms, tight schedule and can't take any outdoor portraits...however, this didn't dampen Wendy and Kenneth's enthusiasms and determinations on their big day!

It was these enthusiasms and willingness to make the best out of the weather that got us through a very hectic day and I was very thankful that I had such a nice couple to work with!

Wendy does have very beautiful eyes...

The 兄弟 didn't have to walk along the 石春路, they have to JUMP on it!

Kenneth followed chinese traditions (which was a first for me!) when picking up the bride!

Due to the very very bad weather, we only can take photos in the clubhouse...hope it didn't spoil their feelings too much...

Their great day was topped up by a stunning performance from 呂姍!! Hope you like our photos and hope you are not that disappointed for not able to take outdoor portraits la!

Vince and Eddy

This was my first job after my three months paternity leave and I was very very lucky to have Vince and Eddy as my first couple! They were friendly, talkative, helpful and extremely willing to try new ideas even in such a hot day!

During the dinner time, I found out they've hired Kenneth (from The Stage) for their pre-wedding and Irene (also from The Stage) for their registration...luckily I find this out during dinner...if it was in the morning, I probably will stress myself too much from knowing the two best photographers from The Stage has taken photos for them!

As there was no registration today, we've had plenty of free time in taking photos and also allow us to try many new things, eventhough some of them didn't worked as much as I wanted but it was a great experiences!

Hope my photos didn't disappoint both of you too much and sincerely hope both of you a happy married life!!

Eventhough my life changed after her arrival, have to wake up several times at night, almost no social life, but is all worth it when I see her smiles...

Recently, one of the photographer I usually work with had his worst wedding in 7 years. Worst wedding not because the couple dislike his photos, but it was purely because they disliked the camera brand he was using, reason being they work for the competition brand.

From my point of view, the couple certainly have the rights to express their loyalty to the company they are working for, however, they should have communicated to the photographer before the wedding so they can make necessary arrangements to avoid such "embarrassment".

In many online forums, people tend to class others that uses top of the range equipments as "professionals" and they believe by having the top of the range equipments they can take professional photos....I'm not trying to argue whether this is right or wrong, but I have to say, in a given situation, if you have better equipments it does allow you to have a greater varieties of shots...however, this does not mean you can take great photos if you have top of the range equipments!

Think about it this way...photographers 20 years ago don't have fast focusing lenses, instant photos review and/or photo editing softwares, but does this mean they didn't take great photos...certainly not, actually, I feel photos taken in the "older" days are much better since they are more thoroughly thought through before the shutter was pressed, unlike digital photographers now-a-days where we (yes, including myself.... =P) presses the shutter non-stop and later hope that we've got the shots we wanted.

Personally, I believe good photography is how to capture "moments" and how to make ordinary day to day people feel relaxed in front of the camera. Good photographers can capture "moments" and make ordinary people feel relaxed regardless of the brand of camera they are using, just like Lawrence Tsang.

I have to admit though, different brand does give different colour tones and people do have some bias toward tones given by a specific camera brand...that's why I like to take this opportunity to let you know that I uses NIKON!

Wallis and Michael

Woke up at 5:30am, I was the driver, "brother", MC as well as the part time photographer of this wedding and it was all for free but is certainly worth it as Michael is a friend of mine for 20 years!

Mike and I went to the same high school and uni and we know each other for two-thirds of our life and I'm so happy and relieved that he finally got married to a very beautiful, kind-hearted and respectful wife, Wallis.

The main photographer of the day was Irene Chui and so happy to have worked alongside her eventhough it was a brief moment...actually, should have many more chances to work with her since she just recently joined The Stage.

As I've said earlier, Mike and I known each other for 20 years and it was very touching to see him finally got married to a wonderful girl...Mike was very emotional that day and I have to say, it was one of the most emotional day I've seen so far and I did shed a tear while listening to his opening speech for the evening....never expected Mike's speech can be so touching.

Of course, apart from the couple, Auntie and Uncle was also very happy as their only son finally got married!!

Eunice and Peter

I've met Eunice and Peter awhile ago, during the interview, Peter was asking most of the questions while Eunice was sitting quietly "absorbing"...this was also the case when we have phone conversations couple of weeks prior to their wedding day...but everything changed!

During the day, Peter was very tense but from smiles on his face after he picked up Eunice, I realised he was very eager to pick up his beautiful bride!

It was a very hectic day, but the couple seems to have unlimited amount of energy as well as smiles! The ceremony was held in Rosemary Church (one of the church I like very much) and it was a very emotional moment for their friends and relatives.

The day was completed flawlessly and I sincerely hope Eunice and Peter will now believe we deliver what we promises!

Congratulations Eunice and Peter!!

PS: Believe it or not, we've worked with the same Make Up Artist (Maggie) for two days in a row eventhough the couples don't know each other!! What a co-incident!

Sharon and Jackie

Sharon loves to smile, I think the only time that she didn't smile on her wedding day was when she was taking her oath during the registration ceremony and I think this was the reason why she married Jackie since he is a guy that can make people smiles around him!

Won't you get mesmerised by her smile?

This was the first time I saw a groom bring a soccer ball (as well as the bouquet of course!) to pick up his bride!

Surprisingly, the sisters treated the brothers nicely (ie, not as bad as I first thought) =)

The day was very smooth, however, it was a shame that they didn't invite me to their after party because I think it will allow me to take photos from a much different "perspective"!

Florence and Anthony

Florence and Anthony was one of best (if not the best) couple I've worked with so far...they were relaxed, always smiles and like celebrities, they know what a photographer wants them to do when they see the camera...just perfect!

Oh yes...this was also the first time for me doing two weddings on the same day...and because of Florence and Anthony professionalism, it was a great experience!

During the banquet, Anthony was "requested" to sing a song to Florence, after the first song, he "requested" himself to sang two more!! For me...he sounded so much like Leslie Cheung and I'm sure Florence was also mesmerized from his songs by the looks on her face!

Eventhough we didn't have too much time in taking photos, I hoped I've done enough so both of you can have long lasting memories of your wedding!

Jenny and ChiYin

Having known Jenny for over 5 years, I never can imagine how "mature and charismatic" she is when in a wedding gown. From the smile on her face, many people can sense Chi Yin will be a very caring husband!

Apart from seeing Jenny in a bridal gown, another surprise I've got at this wedding was I find out a friend I've known for a long time was actually Jenny's cousin as well as the bridesmaid!! What a small world...

Janice and Nelson

My first encounter with Nelson was when he arrived at the bride's house to pick up his bride on his wedding day and my first impression was that he's 官仔骨骨 and must work in a professional industry...I was right!

Since my previous experiences with "professionals" were not very pleasing (because most of them are very serious and don't know how to smile and relax) my confidence level was not high...but fortunately, luck was on my side as Janice smiles so beautifully and naturally!

Have to admit, Janice's traditional chinese gown was so special and it was one of the best I've seen so far!

As the day goes by, I totally forgot the worries I had when I met Nelson in the morning, eventhough he's a very serious guy, he does have his playful side.

Janice told me that her mum is very 眼淺 but from the smile she showed, it seems like I didn't do a good enough job to make her shed some "joyful tears".

See how handsome looking Nelson is, they really are 郎才女貌!

During the ceremony, this flower girl was so happy that she certainly stole some lights from the couple!

Hope Janice and Nelson, hope you've enjoyed your honeymoon and sorry for pestering you about posting your photos on my blog!

Nerys and Eric

Having met Nerys and Eric twice, I've already marked Eric was a very quiet guy while Nerys was the talkative one...but I was fooled! What really happened was Eric respected Nerys very much and let her make all the decisions.

On their wedding day, they behaved totally different, Nerys was the quiet one while Eric was the playful and talkative one! Another special thing about this wedding was one of my colleague was the bride's sisters, never saw her in such a "girlish" outfit before hahaha...

Anyway, the wedding schedule was tight but luckily it all went to plan, even the weather was on their side as it was an outdoor ceremony.

Imagine under the following conditions...how long can you (a city person) survives?

No Internet
Barely any mobile phone coverage
No 自來水 and everyone in the village uses the same water source to clean, cook and wash
No gas and need firewood to cook
Most common domestic pets are piglets, ducklings and chicks
Have to share ONE public toilet with over 100 people don't imagine taking a bath
Waken up by 雞啼 at 5am every morning
Electrical appliances in the house are 2 lights, a TV, a rarely used electric hot plate and a water machine
Natural refrigeration (ie:- you hang your uncooked meat on a fence)

Not long? Yes...not long, my wife and I only managed to survived 2 days and 1 night, but many people around rural China are living in similar or even worst conditions or maybe "City People" are taking the conveniences around them for granted.

Having said that, we've enjoyed our (short) stay very much, without mobile phone disturbance and no temptation to go online, we managed to talk and talk with her relatives for over 3 hours after dinner, imagine doing this in HK, I would say this never happened to me for the past 5 years unless it was over a Mahjong Table.

Eventhough life was simple and relatively primitive, I can feel they've enjoyed their life very much, also maybe because without the "City Influences" they were so real, they try their best to make us live comfortably and share what they have without any hesitations.

View from the attic, to me the view was beautiful, for them, it was just a typical window view in the house.

As the "kitchen" in the house was a bit small to cook for 30 people, they have to cook outside, they are cooking 昆明's traditional 銅鍋 hotpot.

View from the "living room", as you can see, it was very open, airy, crowded and dark.

Village's main street, no car access since it was too narrow.

So lucky to find my friend's (BJai) long lost relatives. BJai: Don't worry about them, they were very healthy and they said they've missed you very much...I also gave them some fresh foods on behalf of you la!

One of my wife's relative, the food she prepared and cooked for us was so traditional and delicious!

House next door, actually, they've joined us for dinner that night...

This is the one and only water source for the entire village, because of this, the villagers uses it with strict restrictions, one section is to wash clothes, one is to wash foods, one for laudries and one for drinking water...guess which section is for what?! I don't know either...

Traditional rice cooker, the hat shape "thing" is the cover for the rice cooker where they will steam it with a big wok.

As a "tourist" I have to take some "I was here" photos! These were taken in 昆明's very famous 石林 and it was used as the site for many movies and a recent TVB's series.

Can you see the cat and the mouse in the rock formation above? I can only see the cat but can't see the mouse...

Actually, we meant to make these visits when we went in May, but we have to cancelled the trip after I fractured my leg on the first night. Luckily I wasn't as clumsy as last time otherwise it will be a big lost for me.

Gloria & Alex

Wedding with no registration, no banquet, starts at 10am and finishes at 2pm? Hard to believe? Is true!!! This was because this smart couple separated their wedding into two parts. I strongly advises couples-to-be to seriously consider such arrangement because it allows each and everyone in your entourage to enjoy every moments of your wedding day.

Back to the couple, my first impression of Alex was very nice, not only he was very polite, he loves to smile. His brothers are also very playful and on many occasions, they created funny and enjoyable moments.

Alex meant to pick up Gloria around 10am but she wasn't ready till 11:30...so we took this chance to take some photos around the area...

See how happy Alex was...

As the brothers waited for a relatively long time...they got frustrated and pointing their fingers at Alex.

After waiting for almost 2 hours downstairs, Gloria is finally ready...but so were her sisters...from what the sisters told me...they feel very sorry for making Alex to wait for such a long time, so they've made him very "delicious breakfast"! After the above photos were taken...Alex's smile disappeared!

Have to admit, the games were very creative...

Apart from the brothers "abusing" Alex, so were the sisters...or was it because the "open door" red pocket didn't meet the sisters' expectations?!

Wish Gloria and Alex a very happy married life!!!

It was meant to be a very tough day today, however, working with Alex, Dragon, Ming and Jessy changed all that! As usual, it was great fun working with Alex, eventhough I was the "Standard Photographer" today I've learnt so much from him AGAIN, don't know why this guy can improve and learn new things so quickly!

Yes, open door games included the very typical "One Hundred Push Ups", from the look on his face...it should be his 99th push up!

The bride and bridesmaids loved to pose...which certainly made our jobs much easier!

Once again, very "educational" working with Alex again, looking forward in seeing you in Sydney or Hong Kong again very soon!

Valerie and Marco - Part 2

Ok...after two days of resting...we started our second and last photoshoot for this trip...eventhough my legs were still tired from the last shoot (yes...very old now) I was very excited since this is the first time I get to shoot Sydney at night...and at the same time...I was very worried about whether it will work or not...

Anyway...before the night sets in, we took a couple of warm up shots, but it was very windy and cold...I was in long sleeves and still shivering and I can't believe Valerie can still dress in tube top for the whole duration of the shoot...but I guess this proves most girls "愛靚唔愛命"!

Anyway, after the sun has fully set, we played around with night shooting, it took me a while to get the flashes to work properly and thankfully Nicky and Doris were there to help out...and I think the photos came out great!

We moved on to another location for a couple of shots and I can't disclosed what happened after this shot hehehe...

As I was playing with HDR photos yesterday, I couldn't resist from trying it on the couple...it turned out quite funny...the effects made them looked "old" but I guess is a nice way to see how they look when they are old!

Thank you to Valerie and Marco for a great trip, it was great fun and a great experience, hope you like the photos la!

HDR - My First Encounter

OK, out of Weddings, Portraits, Events, Products and Landscapes photography, I have to say Landscape is not one of my top interest...basically, is because of three reasons:

1) What I'm shooting doesn't move
2) I'm too lazy to walk and walk and walk to get to a scenic place just to take couple of photos
3) I'm too impatient to wait and wait and wait for the right moment

However, I was very fortunate enough to came across some websites that shows HDR (High Dynamic Range) Landscape photography...after doing more research, I decided to give it a try...and my first impression was...wow...is not as easy as it looks.

Anyway...after spending 4 - 5 hours sitting and waiting...I took almost 30 sets of photos...however, I'm still trying to figure out how to make it look "un-ugly"...anyway..I've posted some of the "not-so-ugly" ones...and as you can see...still have plenty to learn...but is FUN!!!

Valerie and Marco - Part 1

I thought Melbourne is the only city in Australia that can have four seasons within the same day...but I was wrong, it can also happen in Sydney!! This photo shoot was very special for me in many ways...

First of all...we've planned this for quite a long time...and there was a 90% chance we have to call it off because I can't get on the flight...actually...I've waited in the Hong Kong airport for two nights (7 flights in total) before I can get on...

After getting on the plane, the flight was delayed by two hours "due to bad weather", which means I won't arrive in Sydney until 10:30am. After getting off the plane (luckily no more delays) I rushed home, took a quick shower and waited for Marco and Valerie to pick me up....

At first the weather was great, as you can see from the photo above...then....

Then thunderstorm starting to closes in....

After taking the photo above, I was stranded on the cliff as heavy rains started...I've tried my best to protect my equipments however my t-shirt was soaked in the mini mud falls that was created from the rain...what an experience!

I've waited on the cliff for more than 5 minutes and decided to climb off because the rain seems like they don't want to stop...and as soon as I got off the cliff...the rain stopped and blue skies appear again....damn it!! Luckily it was blue skies all the way from then on!

Back to the couple....Valerie and Marco married almost three years ago, it was a very special wedding they've had...I still remember the fun we had in their banquet (as well as the very long speeches...heee) can't believe time passes so quickly.

But from what I observed this time, their love and care for each other still haven't changed a bit...not to mention they are still as childish as three years ago....hey...but why does it matters, if it wasn't for their childishness, we would not have such a great time!

They were so co-operative that day, they even won't mind doing "not so stylish" (aka STUPID THINGS) poses and/or requests that I've asked them to...things like...walking along the beaches, kicking water, lying on the wooden jetty with a white dress and even kicking her thongs!!!

We went to "Long Jetty" again, same as last time, it was quiet and peaceful...

We waited for the sun to set and the mood was just perfect!

Kaylie and Kaden (龍鳳胎)

Kaylie (younger sister) and Kaden (elder brother) is the first 龍鳳胎 I know, eventhough they are twins, they have very different characteristics!

Kaylie likes to smile but Kaden tends to be more "cool", however, shooting with them were an entertainment on its own. Eventhough the shooting only lasted for two hours, I was more exhausted then shooting a full day wedding, luckily we've postponed the shoot for a couple of weeks in order for my ankle to heel, otherwise I'm sure my ankle won't stand up to all the actions during the day.

My Daibo has grown up la!! (3年命正常,多3年叫長命,再多3年係神賜)

My wife scolded me many times for not taking photos of our "son"....I have to admit when we picked him up from the airport more than two years ago, I took photos of him on a weekly basis but after a couple of weeks, due to many reasons (and excuses I guess) I've stopped this habit...which I now regret very much....

The three photos above were taken when Daibo was 4 months old...and the two below were taken tonight...

He still likes to "smile" at the camera...but with his short concertration span, he will doze off very quickly. I didn't realised how much he grew in the last two years, he looks so much like a "man" now...eventhough he's only two years old, this breed of dog (Bernese Mountain dog) have a very short lifespan...there's a very common saying for this breed of dog... "3年命正常,多3年叫長命,再多3年係神賜....", regardless how many days Daibo have left, I will try my best to make it his happiest...but I hope he is 神賜的!!

Wedding Photographers in HK...

After reading an "article" from one of my best mentor Lawrence, I can't agree more with what he said about wedding photographers in Hong Kong. By no means I'm trying to comment on the 前輩's behaviors because I'm not in the field long enough to make comments, but personally, after reading what Lawrence said, I'm really sadden on the selfishness of some of the wedding photographers in HK.

I understand sometime people thinks 同行如敵國 but does this mean you can defame your competitors to raise yourself? Isn't this too naive and nonconstructive to the industry? Within couple of hours after Lawrence posted the article, there were over 10 people posted supportive comments and most of them are Lawrence's direct competitors...this is a good indicator in Lawrence's status amongst his peers.

I still remember when I "started" photography just over 2 years ago, I was just a guy who does not know the difference between aperture and shutter (for some...I still don't know the difference, but this is another story), I've asked Lawrence so many questions so many times, he still tried his best to answer each and everyone of them and from what I've learnt so far, every answers he gave were unbiased and the whole truth. I guess I was very lucky that I've met many 前輩 like Lawrence, so I was able to learn from the best and don't have to waste too much time 遊花園.

I think in order for Hong Kong Wedding Photography to thrive we need more real 前輩 like Lawrence who is willing to teach the new comers and competitors whole-heartedly as well as promote healthy competitons amongst peers to stimulate and encourage more people to try new things out of the "typical square" that most of us confined ourselves in.

新森林 - Part 2

I almost forgot when was the last time I've picked up my camera...everytime I have the mood to pick it up..it either rains or my ankle plays up on me...luckily New Forest asked me to take part 2 of their menu today otherwise I probably won't have the chance to pick up my camera anytime soon.

Eventhough my ankle still not 100% recovered, I think is the food (once again) that got me through this photo shoot, not to mention my partner Kenny for helping me out through out the night.

This shoot didn't take as long as I expected, mainly because plenty of preparation works went in from the New Forest's team beforehand, so basically, they know what they wanted before I arrived at the Wan Chai's restaurant.

Once again, it was a great experience and looking forward to the Part 3 of their menu!!

The Stage

The Stage is made up by several photographers that worked alongside Lawrence Tsang for the past couple of years, sometime these teams were branded as Lawrence's second team, however, as demands for Lawrence's "Second Team" increases it is more beneficial for Lawrence and these teams to establish a separate "Brand".

While I'm still immobile with my fractured ankle, I went through my previous photos (again...) and I realised at the same time last year, it also rained for more than seven days non-stop...

Yunnan, Kunming Trip - View from 4 feet high...

Due to personal reasons I went to Kunming (in China's Yunnan Province) for a week, and unfortunately (or fortunately some might say) I've fractured my ankle on the first night. I was confined to a wheelchair for the rest of the trip and missed out on many photoshooting opportunities.

When I started learning photography, I've read many articles that say "take your photos 4 feet from the ground", I must admit...on many occasions I was too lazy to squat down and take it from "4 feet", however, since I'm confined to a wheelchair this time, I was forced to look at the world from "4 feet" high...and it was a great experience (apart from my immobility).

While I was confined to a wheelchair and moving around in public places, I've started to realise people tends to stare at you in many ways, some tend to be curious (how come a disabled person still holds plenty of camera equipments?), some tend to be not so friendly and some showed a sense of sympathy...any how, it wasn't a very good feeling eventhough I know I'm only temporary disabled...

Why do people look at other people differently just because they don't share the same mobility as them?

Kathie & Joseph

Today was the big day for Kathie and Joseph, eventhough the day started relatively late (compared to other weddings I've been to) it turned out pretty smooth.

I've known Kathie for a very long time...and because of this, I must say she was very pretty on the day..and for Joseph...he was handsome and cute as usual (I really mean this hehe) but there's also a hint of stress though.

As you can see...a very happy couple and I'm sure there will be many more happy moments for them in the years to come!

The ceremony was held in a church at Pok Fu Lum, it was the best church I've been to so far, hopefully will have another chance shooting in it very soon...

A happy bunch....sincerely wish Kathie and Joseph plenty of happiness for the years to come!!

Photoshoot for 新森林's new menu

This was one of the toughest assignment for a while...the shoot started around midnight and it lasted till 6am in the morning, on top of that, I was presented with all these beautifully crafted dishes (more than 70 of them) but not able to have them...while my mouth waters and concentrations lacking my partner was still able to push me through the shoot...

Isn't the lobster very red and lively? (yeh... I know the photo is a bit red too..)

I was able to taste test this peking duck afterwards...the meat was so tender and juicy that I almost have to fight my partner for it...

Baked escargot stuffed in button mushrooms...nice....
