Today was some very special day for me...I was a volunteer for a Day Trip for three elderly homes, they were:
愛群理療護理院 , 美景護老院 and 安福護老院
I never went on a day trip in Hong Kong and more importantly, today I went with almost 100 elderly people with their relatives and friends! Eventhough some of these people are somewhat immobile and some even with minor dementia, they were still making their best effort in enjoying every attractions...
After spending couple of hours with them, I've learnt we should try to live life to the fullest and never give up so easily irrespective in how difficult the tasks in front of us were.
As some of these people do not (or cannot) leave the elderly home due to health reasons, they were very happy and excited to see the "outside" world...I think is just like a child going to an amusement park.
This 公公 was taking a rest after walking up the stairs...his smile was so innocent and real...
This couple was married for so long that both of them forgot how long it was...nevertheless they were still holding hands and enjoying their day out...and from their behaviors, it seems like they still love and care for each other just like when they were young....some of us young couples find it very difficult to do...
After taking this photo, I had a brief talk with this 公公, and to my surprise, he is also a professional photographer, and what's more, he just had his own photo exhibition three months ago, I've learnt so much from him and as you can see...photography is not limited by your age!
This 婆婆 was enjoying her day out with a smile... she was waiting for her "buddies" while she was having a rest after a "long" walk...
Inside the Chinese University courtyard...
Don't know why, eventhough I was not paid for today's "job", I think my level of enjoyment and the satisfaction I've got were so much more than working for a "paid" job, maybe because I can see so many happy elderly peoples (you will think they are children just purely judging from their behaviors) taking a day out and enjoying a trip that I think 99% of us will think is boring...
It taught me how to enjoy everything you do regardless how boring it seems and don't take them for granted....and most importantly enjoy and cherish what you have now (health, family, friends, etc...) because eventually, you will loose them no matter what they are.
